Veronica's Veil

Reflection
Veronica Wipes the Face of Jesus
(Reading from the Gospel of Luke)
Jesus took with Him Peter, and John, and James and went upon a mountain to pray. And while he was praying, the appearance of His face changed an His clothes became dazzling white.
Suddenly they saw two men; Moses and Elisha talking to Him.
They appear in glory and were speaking about His departure, which was about to be accomplished at Jerusalem.
Now Peter and his companions were down asleep, but since he has stayed awaked, they saw His glory, and the two men stood with him.
Just as they were leaving Him, Peter said to Jesus: 'Master, it is good for us to be here. Let's just make three dwellings; one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elisha.' not know what he said.
While he was saying this, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were terrified as they entered to the cloud.
Then, from the cloud, came a voice that said;"This is my Son, my chosen. Listen to Him".

Veronica wiping the face of Jesus is not mentioned in the Gospels. It's an ancient tradition.
The transfiguration of Jesus, which is due here in this Gospel account, it's an awful counterpart in the disfiguring of Jesus in the course of His Passion.
I would want with all my heart to help Jesus.
Would I had the courage to step forward to comfort Him, even for the brief moment of wipe His face?
___
Tradition tells us that the image of His face is preserved on this cloth.
Would I like the image of this face to be preserved in me?
The Passion of Jesus is something like the DNI of the Christian.
Is it deeply written in me?
Is it shaping me?
___
Dearest Jesus, teach us to be generous, to serve you as you deserve, to give but not to count the cost, to fight and not to hit the wound, to labor and not to seek for any reward, except to know that we're doing your holy will. Amen.
