MEMORIAL OF SAINT MARY MAGDALENE,
22 JULY
J.M.J.

Dear Father Thomas:
Yesterday I offered the Holy Mass to the Missionaries of Charity. It made me to remember the first time I me tMother Therese of Calcuta. When she came to Manila to establish her community, I was asked to celebrate mas for her and her sisters.
After the mass, I had the privilege to speak in private with Mother Therese. There she told me the story of her community. The sister Agnus, a small and dark nun from India, was her first disciple. In the beginning there were few sisters along with Mother Therese, while there were many needy people. From the aged and sick that died on the streets, to the babies and children that did not have anybody who look after them, Mother Therese wanted to reach to all.
The question was: how to serve with so few followers? There wasn't enough time during the day to serve to all the needy. Mother Therese and her sisters prayed to know what to do. The answer was astonishing. God wanted something very special other than her regular prayers. Even when it seemed that there weren't enough hours in a day, God wanted something else. He wanted that the community reserved one extra hour every day, for all to pray together in the presence of His Son exposed in the Holy Sacrament.
Mother Therese declared that that daily Holy Hour was the cause and the reason for the growth of her community.
The community have grew until more than three thousands sisters through the power and and the grace received in the daily Holy Hour. Mother Therese has multiplied and now she's present in every part of the world through her sisters. Due to that she was disposed to dedicate time to unite herself to the vine , now she's able to reach and to embrace the whole world.
In The Last Supper, Jesus said that those who remain united to Him in the Holy Sacrament, will give lots of fruits (Jn 15:5)
The apostolic fruit of Mother Therese and her sisters continues astonishing the world.
Her story inspired me to do the same than she did. I was reading about the apostolate of Perpetual Adoration, and about how Father Martin Lucia was successfully promoting it in United States and in other countries. I also wanted that it spread for all Philippines. For that reason I founded the community called "Eucharistic Disciples of Saint Pio X". Day and night, without rest, they reach to the Holy Sacrament in loving adoration. First they pray for Father Lucia could come to the Philippines and so could start the great apostolate to establish the Perpetual Adoration in the parishes. In this moment there are five hundred chapels. Now the Eucharistic Disciples pray for us could accomplish our plan of establishing it in one thousand parishes, Perpetual Adoration Chapels.
These two examples, Mother Theresa's and the Eucharistic Disciples', show the truth what Jesus said in today Gospel: "Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her." (Lk 10:41-42)
The good part is to be with Jesus in the Holy Sacrament. The best invested time on earth, dear Thomas, is the time that you spend with your best friend, Jesus, in the Holy sacrament. And it's the securest way to obtain apostolic fruit.
Fraternally yours in His Eucharistic Love,
Mgr. Pepe
